Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is one of the non-destructive testing (NDT) methods that use beam of mechanical waves (vibration) of short wave length and transmitted from small probe in contact with specimen surface and detect by the same or other probe. When there is a discontinuity in the wave path, part of the transmitted wave energy will be reflected back and it is than detected by other probe and transform it to electrical signal and is displayed on the screen. From the signal, information about the reflector location, size, orientation and other features can be obtained. Therefore, UT can be utilize to detect flaw in materials, weldments, can measure thickness, mapping of internal corrosion, water level detection on enclose tank or pipe, etc.
